A friendly and experienced staff is always ready to assist you in decorating your home or finding that perfect gift. With displays that inspire, you will always find something new and different. Meet the Owner

Maureen Braun, Owner

Maureen knew at an early age she wanted to have her own store! She practiced her passion-- constantly redecorating her room, sewing her own clothing, and visiting museums deepening her love of art and design. After graduating from Jasper High School, she attended Indiana University majoring in Business. Post-college, she gained retail experience in women’s designer clothing at Ann Taylor in Cambridge, MA and as an assistant-buyer at Filene’s Department Store in Boston, MA. Strong roots eventually brought Maureen and her husband, Mike, back to their hometown of Jasper, IN. In 1978, with lots of hard work and energy from Maureen and her family and friends, it was time to make a lifelong dream come true— the opening of her own store, Finishing Touches!

Meet the Staff

Gina Scherle

Gina is our most experienced associate with 42 years at Finishing Touches! Talk to Gina for home decor ideas by showing her photos on your phone of the area you'd like to decorate. She creates displays, orders new products, designs floral and greenery arrangements, and manages the store on a daily basis. Priceless!

Amy Leinenbach

Amy is our jewelry extraordinaire! She knows the latest looks and keeps the selection new and fresh. Amy is our Vera Bradley expert and orders many of our personal items, candles, and drinkware. She also takes our videos, helps with marketing, and has been here 21 years! Awesome!

Brenda Edwards

Brenda keeps our bookkeeping with her accounting background. She pays invoices and taxes, and she records sales and receivables. Brenda also helps on the sales floor, orders bath and body products, and fills in wherever needed. She has worked here for 18 years. Incredible!

Shirley Stallwood

Shirley moves so fast checking in our new merchandise, you probably have to look twice to find her! She unpacks, marks, and inspects for quality control. She keeps track of our orders, backorders, and reports damages. Shirley has carpentry skills needed many times at the store, and she knows a lot about home decor! She has worked here 8 years and we are lucky to have her!

Kim Schmitt

Kim is an artist with her own business, Clara Mill. She and Jennifer Prechter design and print pottery, canvas, crosses, and kitchen towels. Kim knows what you want! We work together to bring you new home decor, gift ideas, and seasonal accents. Kim helps on the sales floor when we need her. Her expertise from an artist's view is appreciated as well as her big smile! Treasured!

Diane Lindauer

Diane runs Finishing Touches Business Promotions (FTBP). She manages the office, researches gift ideas, and prepares presentations. She places orders, follows up for on-time event delivery, organizes art files, sends invoices, and pays bills. Diane's attention to detail makes her a perfect fit for this Corporate Gift Division. So valuable!
